A Nightmare

I think I have gone crazy with all the packing. I had a nightmare last night...

I dreamnt that it was the 8th of April.

It was 7pm at night when we got a knock on our door.

I don't recognise the person but he said that our plane is leaving at 8pm for Singapore and we have to pack everything and get on the plane by then.

I am like WTF. We haven even started packing!!!

Anyway, we scrambled to pack everything and suddenly I remembered that the girls still have a doctor's appointment on 26th May.

At this point of the dream, I was jolted awake by Alyssa's cries. Normally I cannot remember my dreams but this dream is so vivid. I can remember all the times and dates haha. Maybe I should buy 4D.

Anyway, I am really curious about how we are going to pack and get on the plane by 8pm but I didn't dream the same dream again after I fell asleep again. haha

It’s Never Too Late to Start Baby Sign Language

Hi everyone, I would like to share an article about baby sign language. I am sure many new moms are very interested in teaching their babies sign language in the hopes that their babies will learn to communicate faster and many moms do start very early.

However, my Amelia is already at an ripe old age of 22 months LOL. I have never really taught her any proper sign language before but it is never too late to start! Read on to find out more.

It’s Never Too Late to Start Baby Sign Language

by Misty Weaver
Chief Editor, Baby Sign Language

Are you feeling like you might have missed the baby sign language train? Thinking it might be too late to start now? Well I have good news for you! It’s never too late to start baby sign language! (Well, if you are reading this while your daughter is shopping for her first car, then maybe … but for most people, it’s not too late!)

I have known many moms who don’t know about Baby Sign Language until they become moms and start hanging around with moms who use it. I have friends who didn’t start signing until their children were 12-18 months old!

In fact, many parents are starting with baby sign language when their child is learning to talk, not before. Pediatricians and speech pathologists recommend sign language as a way of helping children learn to speak, especially if they are already experiencing speech delays.

So, if your toddler is lagging on speech development, or if you just want to help her along, Baby Sign Language is an awesome option! And it is becoming common for parents to continue signing through their child’s third year!

There are even a few perks to starting late. The older your baby, the faster he will probably learn. So don’t worry – you will catch up! Babies 12 months or older can start learning signs in just a few days!

Baby sign language can also be a powerful ally when potty training. Toddlers who use sign language usually potty train faster and more easily than toddlers who go it with speech alone. Many children are ready to potty train before they are able to speak, so Baby Sign Language can help to bridge this gap. You might be able to potty train your child before he can ever actually “ask” to go potty!

Signing can also help with socialization. First of all, signing helps a child to overcome shyness. It can take less courage to sign in front of someone than it does to speak. Also, if you take your toddler to preschool, and there are other signing children there, what fun he could have signing with his new friends!

And speaking of preschool, believe it or not, some preschools and daycare are even requiring basic sign language skills. And even if they don’t require it, they will likely admire it when they see it on your application.

Beyond preschool, some progressively-minded educators are using American Sign Language (the official language of the deaf community, which BSL is based on) in the regular classroom as a way of fostering speech development and literacy skills.

And as for the less practical side of things – it can be fun to teach your toddler a few “secret” signs that you can use for years! Signing with your child can provide you with a “secret signal” or an “inside joke” that can become a bond you’ll share forever!

I hope you enjoyed reading the article as much as I did.

Busy busy busy...

Have not been updating my blog lately because I am too tired and busy.

We are vacating the house on 21st Sep and I have been packing. Cleaned the oven and kitchen so no more baking and cooking stuffs that will make the kitchen oily again haha. So I told hubby from now on I will only cook porridge and he is fine with it. I hope we lose some weight from eating porridge haha.

We are in the midst of packing so the house is like shit. Boxes everywhere and things lying around everywhere haiz.

Have been shopping like siao too! Mad dash to try and buy clothes for them. Some wives here buy up to 4T or 5T before going back to SG but I just cant seem to do it haha.. I am afraid that I will hate the clothes that I chose now by the time they are 4 or 5? And, Amelia is 22 months already but can still wear like 12 months clothes.. Alyssa can still wear 3 months clothes... So in the end the majority I buy is up to 18mths and 24 mths.. I think Amelia can wear 24 months de until she is 3 yrs old lo haha.. But in the end I told myself to buy some bigger clothes la.. I managed to buy quite a lot of 2T and 3T clothes too.

Some random photos

Very shocked that I left her sitting on the changing table

Hey Mommy, what are you trying to do??

Get me down now if not I am going to cry!

Starting to pout liao

Started to scream hahaha

Went to Famous Daves for dinner on Sat with hubby's colleagues from his shift. The last time I went was 2 years ago when we just arrived here! haha

Dunno why she gave this kind of sianz look. I love this dress from Addidas! Usual price 29.90 but was on sale for abt 6 USD. OMG! I bought another white one too haha

Alyssa was very happy. Love this flowery dress from Osh Kosh too. Less than 10 bucks

Finally both looking at the cam but they look stunned leh

Group photo. Alyssa made so much noise halfway thru dinner and fell asleep lo! I can never enjoy my meals in peace. Dawn wanted the person to take the photo from this side because she is furthest away from the cam! Like that I am right in front of the cam so I look so fat la! All hide behind very lihai lo haha.

Went to Scottsdale on Sat to shop and headed to Crocs wanting to buy shoes for them

This is the pair I got for Amelia. Newest design so no sale but I wan to buy! haha I think it's so chio and dun look like crocs at all lo.

My model for the day. She still know how to pose for me and bring her feet close tog! haha

The minnie mouse and flower buttons are sold separately

I cant resist buying a pair for myself too. So nice and comfy and dun look like crocs at all!

Big Feet Little Feet

Wanted to get a pair for Alyssa too but the smallest size is like still wayyyyyy too huge for her.. And I already got a pair for her from RobeeZ to help her learn to walk when she is ready. Robeez have shoes that have very very soft soles. Amelia started out wearing Robeez shoes too.

Chio also right!!? Haha I love the heart shapes!!

Cute shoes for the cute babies and cute shoes for the not-very-young-anymore-mommy who is still trying to act cute HAHA!

Banana Cream Pie

Before my pregnancies, I wasn't really into desserts. I prefer savory foods than sweet ones.

However after having them, I am crazy about desserts!

Ice creams, cakes, pies, yogurt, anything sweet! OMG, that explains why I am so fat now. But really cannot control leh!

Breastfeeding can be very trying emotionally. I very vain leh, I wan to lose weight and diet, but I feel guilty if I dun eat. I am EXCLUSIVELY breastfeeding and Alyssa is not eating much solids yet, I think about 95% and on some days 100% of her food is breast milk. Also, she is getting bigger (7.5 months already!) so she needs more milk. That means I feel REALLY hungry after I fed her. Really hungry as in I feel like my limbs are trembling and I need food RIGHT NOW.  I am always struggling between vanity and my baby's needs and the latter almost always win. My babies mean the world to me.

Ok, I digressed. Anyway, back to desserts. While on holiday in the beginning of August, I saw a programme at night in our hotel. It is "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" on Food Network. Food Network always makes me hungry but i like to watch! Basically, in the show, Bobby Flay, a Food Network chef will compete with the chef or chefs from a popular eatery or restaurant to cook their signature dish. This particular episode was on Banana Cream Pie. After that, I had such a huge craving for the pie. I was ecstatic when the restaurant we ate at the next day makes them! OMG, really wan to dance around in happiness haha.

I ordered it to go (means Da Bao la, they call it to go in USA) becoz I wanted to enjoy the slice of pie after Amelia had fallen alseep coz she always eats alot of my dessert! WHAT? I greedy cannot meh! haha. So I was carrying the box of pie and walking to our car when hubby ask me to take a photo of him and Alyssa outside the restaurant. I had nowhere to put the pie so I ask Amelia to hold for me. Very stupid right, haha and of coz she dropped the box.

I screamed after I took this photo because I saw that Amelia dropped the box! Luckily the box dropped on the floor and not the pie itself.. Although the pie was a bit smashed but it is still edible and delicious!

Okay, after we came back from our holiday, I really miss Banana Cream Pie! But hor, AZ got no Perkins leh. So on Friday night, we had dinner at Village Inn and when I found out they made them I ordered not one slice but a WHOLE pie to go haha.. Why I so Tam Jiak huh!!?? (Means Love to eat and greedy in Hokkien)

We finished our meal and went to the front to pay. Hubby was carrying Alyssa while I was carrying my precious pie in a box. Amelia was walking by herself. There was a teenage girl in a cast on crutches queueing in front of us. Amelia ran over and wanted to touch her cast I think. I was afraid that Amelia will hurt the girl so I wanted to run over and stop her. And guess what, I tripped over my flip flops and FELL in front of EVERYONE. So embarassing + Paiseh + Malu + Lao Kui. PUI PUI PUI. At least I was wearing shorts instead of a dress. And all I could think of while I was falling was to save the pie in my hands. Because of this, I didnt break my fall with my hands and my knee was skinned by the carpet. And the first thing hubby asked me when he saw me fall was "Is the Pie OK!!??" Faintzz

Have u seen such bad carpet burns??

Amazingly, the pie survived the fall

I AM GONNA EAT YOU

My knee looks like this today. I am disfigured!

The whole purpose of this post is that I want to say that maybe I am just not destined to eat Banana Crem Pie. Both times I bought it, both times it dropped on the floor. I was so pissed off I finished half the pie ON MY OWN on Saturday. HAHA

Shall end this post with a cute photo of them napping. How can I not love them!?? And yes Amelia, Mummy still love you even though you made me fall!

Very Nuah...

Has been very nua ever since we came back from the trip.
We have been back for a week liao and I dunno what I have been doing.
There are so many things I need to do but I just can't find the momentum to start leh.
I did the laundry on the day we came back and the clothes are still in the basket. Kept wanting to fold it but cant get my lazy ass to do it.. Basically we dig through the baskets for clothes everyday. HAIZ

Heng I have already packed all their clothes before we went for the trip. Basically all the clothes that they have outgrown and clothes that are not suitable for Singapore weather are packed and ready to be put into the boxes. The rest of the clothes will be packed into the luggages.

We have already started to sell some of our stuff and there are still so many things to sell! We are going to vacate the house in less than a month. I have no idea how I am going to pack all our things into boxes, get all the things sold and clean up the house for inspection. OH GOSH. Sianz to the max. Not easy leh, have to plan. What are the things that we cannot live without? These have to be put into luggages. Things that we can live without for a while can be put into the boxes as the boxes will arrive in Singapore I think about a month after we arrive. Now I have to plan and pack 3 ppl's stuff. Hubby can pack his stuff himself but he dunno how to pack for the girls. Everytime we go trip also I pack everything except for them. Dun think that they dun have much stuffs since they are babies. They got more things and clothes than us lo!

Packing is made even more difficult with Amelia around. She likes to KPO and touch EVERYTHING. You pack liao she go and touch you pack liao she go and touch. Neverending cycle.

As if packing up here is not enough, there are so many things I want and need to do when we reach SG!!

1. Convert my driving license to SG license ASAP in case they dun let me convert if my license here expired. This may seem like an easy task, but not easy for me leh. Want to leave them with my mom while I go but scared they not used to her yet and may cry nonstop. If I bring them go have to entertain them while queueing. HAIZ

2. Rebonding and colouring my hair. I haven did anything to my hair since Nov 2007! I am quite sian coz I dunno how to leave Alyssa for so many hours as she still dunwan the bottle. But I cannot stand my hair ANYMORE and I also wan to rebond it ASAP.

3. Bring them for their BCG jabs.

4. Finding a school for Amelia as she is walking around aimlessly at home everyday.

5. Looking for a car.

6. Start renovations on our flat ASAP too so we can move in.

7. Start sending out resumes and going for interviews.

These are the things I can think of right now. I bet there are many other things that will pop up when we reach home.

I have been writing and editing my resume for FOREVER. Keep procrastinating. HAIZ.

I want to close the kitchen and stop cooking but hubby say it's too early! Haiz. Yes I have been cooking for the past 4 days but cannot be bothered to cook today.

I am also very frustrated because of the following:

1. I cannot lose the last few kgs of my pregnancy weight.

2. Amelia has a new habit of sticking things into her nose. She will put her snacks into her nose and I though WAH why her pisai so big! But actually they are biscuits.

3. Alyssa wont stop scratching herself! She likes to scratch herself in her sleep until she bleeds lo! Dunno why. I find myself not daring to sleep too deeply because I hold her hands while we are sleeping to prevent her from scratching.

4. If she is not scratching herself, she is scratching me! Very painful k. I think she is not scratching because she is feelign itchy but because she finds scratching very comforting?

Okay, enough of my ranting. Didn't expect that this post will become a ranting post. But there are a few things I am happy about.

Amelia can sit in her highchair and feed herself now. Ever since I let her self-feed, she is more interested in eating and will guai guai sit down and eat until she finishes her meal. YAY! Although she made a mess initially, but she is getting better now and I dun have to run after her to feed her anymore! Very happy lo.

Also, Alyssa is sitting up very steadily now. Wont fall over liao. So I can just let her sit on the floor and play by herself! Dun need to keep carrying her le yay...  She is also showing signs of wanting to crawl already.. FINALLY.

Okay, will end with a few pictures to balance out this wordy post.

I love the way she stands! Posing like a model haha

Dinner for Monday

Bought a new toy for them. They can play in their "house" while I cook haha

Picture of the whole thing. They can climbthrough the tunnels.

While I am typing this post, she took my moisturiser and did this!! Luckily she always see me putting the cream on my face and she didnt eat it.

Faintz..

Amelia has been crazy about corn ever since the trip. I made corn yesterday. Very easy. Just buy those frozen cut corn, boil with water for like 2 minutes and add butter to the hot corn. Make sure to melt all the butter. It taste like those tt Pasar Malam sells. Hubby loves it too. They earn a lot leh, the cost is very cheap and they sell one small cup for $1.50? Dunno price increase liao or not. Anyway Amelia ate LOTS of corn yesterday and today, guess what Amelia's shit looks like
